Dear Kamching brothers and sisters,

Get involved in kamching.com!

(1) I have just updated our temporary web site with 10 more photos of Chiu sir. These include Mrs Chiu, their children, David Lam, "Tall Man", Du Jian Li and a photo of Chiu sir in 1997. Kam Wah has also updated his article on the memorial section. Please take a look at www.kbdnet.net.au/leochui/kca

(2) Could Jim please proceed with the web hosting procedure? May be by the end of next week we will have our own web site and a kamching.com email address.

(3) What I know of web design is the basics only. There is a whole lot of things for me and for all of us to learn. It's a real challenge. I need your assistance.

Who else are interested in writing web pages and web design other than Jim and Charles Lam?
Are there anyone proficient in inputing Chinese characters?
Anyone interested in translation?
Anyone interested in drawing pictures and designing logos?
Anyone volunteering to surf the net for new ideas? (That takes time.)
Or anyone just eager to publish on the web ? ( you don't need to be technical)

We have to know the number of people willing to take part in our web in some form or other( maybe one or two hours per week) before we can draft our plan and assign duties . Our children or relatives may help too.

Remember, what we can get really depends on what we are willing to give.

(4) Hung Cheong suggested we should provide something like bulletin so that visitors can write down their opinion and be posted on the web at once. I don't know how to do it. It's a real challenge. I wonder if anyone of you know some professionals out there who happen to be related to kamching and are willing to give us advice.

(5) For those of you who want to know more about web design, you can find heaps of reference material in www.html.tucows.com

(6) For my article, it is written in Chinese. I don't have the time and the skills to translate it. Jim proposed to do it but I think others could help too! How about Kam Hung or Leung Bun? Please give me a reply. I'll make some minor ammendment to my article this weekend.

(7) As we are exchanging emails and discussing the web project, don't forget there is a whole lot of people who can't write in English , don't know how to use computer , or even can't afford to buy a computer. Yet we need their participation if we aim at promoting the kamching spirit and have wider influence. We need to establish other forms of communication besides email and web.

best regards,

Man Keung
