FTP is another internet function, other than World Wide Web.
It's specially for transferring files over the internet.
The original program uses commands typed from DOS prompt.
Just like the WWW evolved to use browsers which enabled graphical user interface, the FTP got its own GUI programs, of which cuteFTP is one of them.
You may download this program to automate file transfer with the web server.
When you first open cuteFTP, you will be presented with the Site Manager window,as follows:
You need to click the button "add site".
Then input details from the form:
In the site label column, give it a name (I've assigned the name kbd to my web), type in the ftp address, user name and password, or your local directory. Click "confirm" to bring you back to the site manager window. Hightight kbd and click "connect".
You'll then be brought to the main window, separated into two panels: the left is your local directory, the right your web server directory.
You just need to drag and drop when transferring files between your PC and the web server.
The version provided here is an old version, yet it got the basic functions and let you use it even after 30 days.
